What qualifications do I need to apply for the Transport Driver position?
You must hold a valid Category D1 license without 101 restriction and have an up-to-date Driver CPC.
What types of vehicles will I be driving as a Transport Driver?
You will be operating Luton vehicles, small vans, medium vans, cars, and shuttle buses between hospital sites, as well as transporting pathology samples.
Is there a probationary period for new staff?
Yes, all new staff are required to undergo a 6-month probationary period, except for those on temporary or fixed-term contracts for 6 months or less.
What are the requirements regarding health and safety checks for vehicles?
Duties include first user vehicle checks, general upkeep of the vehicles, including cleaning and day-to-day maintenance (oil, water, DEF, etc.).
What benefits are offered regarding pension plans?
Employees are automatically enrolled in the NEST pension scheme, with contributions of 5% from the employee and 3% from the employer.
What is the policy on sick leave?
You will receive no pay for the first working day of absence. During the first year of service, you will receive statutory sickness payment only.
How much annual leave do I get?
You receive 20 days of standard annual leave, plus 8 public holidays, on a pro-rata basis.

What happens if I need maternity leave?
You are entitled to full pay for 8 weeks (2 months), half pay for 18 weeks (4 months), followed by Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) only for 13 weeks (3 months).
Is there a driving assessment I need to complete?
Yes, the successful applicant will need to undertake a driving assessment as part of the hiring process.
