Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in new media, graphic design, information technology, computer science or human-computer interaction.
  • Five years working professionally in web or interaction design, with an excellent foundation in design principles (typography, colour, layout, and brand systems).
  • Strong knowledge of UX methodology, particularly as applied to web-based and mobile-based applications.
  • An exceptional portfolio that shows your work and ability to solve problems.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills – must be able to function as a thought leader as well as an individual contributor.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (ie. Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.).
  • Proficiency with frontend development technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Skilled meeting facilitator with good communication and analytics skills.

Responsibilities

  • - Work closely with stakeholders across the University to create user-focused and goal-driven designs for the University website and various other digital properties.
  • - Craft excellent experiences for users across audiences of the University’s digital properties.
  • - Conduct UX research and help craft documentation and standards.
  • - Be an authority on campus in usability and web design principles, web standards and best practices.
  • - Collaborate with a diverse team both inside and outside of the department of Communications, Marketing and Government Relations.
