Requirements

  • A currently enrolled student with authorization to work in the USA and an expected graduation date between December 2024 and May/June 2025 (if undergrad)
  • Must have a passion for TV/film/pop culture and reading, and have knowledge and passion for at least one out of several areas in the IP marketplace (books, podcasts, comic books, graphic novels, webtoons, video games, etc.)
  • Curious about the wide world of IP, interested in learning the taste of others, and harbors a desire to see other facets of the market at-large (deal-making, authors/creators of note, buzzworthy books, and IP already being developed around town).
  • Have the ability to effectively communicate and express your informed opinions on IP you love (and hate!)
  • Must be collaborative and able to work in an “all hands on deck” environment
  • Must be self-motivated and able to take initiative to work independently
  • Has the ability to maintain confidentiality and utmost discretion while being privy to sensitive information
  • Have a commitment to diverse and inclusive storytelling
  • Must reside in the Los Angeles area for the duration of the internship (relocation and housing support will be provided)
  • Note: Selected candidates must comply with federal, state, and local laws with respect to COVID-19 requirements and protocols (including, but not limited to rules regarding masking and vaccines), Netflix policies, and any of the industry return-to-work agreements that govern same.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate books and intellectual property (articles, short stories, podcasts, video games, etc.) for adaptation potential
  • Take on special projects: research and compile information, reports, and lists based on content team targets and areas of interest
  • Help manage the team’s administrative tools and databases
  • Assist and shadow the IP Scouting team in their day-to-day operations
  • Learn Netflix tools and how to operate within the Netflix culture
  • Learn about the acquisition and development process for all kinds of IP across series and feature films
  • Build relationships with partner teams across the company
  • Learn about the larger IP-to-film marketplace (authors to know, trends to track, etc.)
