  • The Intelligent Conversation and Communications Cloud (IC3) Artificial Intelligence (AI) group applies machine learning (ML) to problems in advanced teleconferencing scenarios that are used by hundreds of millions of customers worldwide via Teams and Skype. We develop fundamental technologies and perform applied research and development to enable better customer experiences for real-time collaboration.
  • One such area is the Bandwidth estimation for the audio and video codecs in the stack. We employ reinforcement learning based ML model to estimate the available bandwidth during a call.


  • Required Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Research Interns are expected to be physically located in their manager’s Microsoft worksite location for the duration of their internship.
  • In addition to the qualifications above, you’ll need to submit a minimum of two reference letters for this position. Research internships are available in all areas of research, and are offered year-round, though they typically begin in the summer.
