Description

  • As an Intern within the IMCS Production group, the individual will be responsible for assisting in the management and oversight of internal Amtrak Capital construction projects within the New York Division and Mid-Atlantic Division. This position will have duties in both the office and field environment. The individual will work under close supervision of Production managers and in collaboration with all levels of stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Mgmt
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant work experience (e.g., internships, summer positions, school jobs)
  • 2 years of academic ungraduated studies completed or a junior status
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Must have the ability to coordinate efforts with other technical disciplines

  • Individuals in this role use engineering & construction management knowledge as well as analytical skills to support assigned projects, including but not limited to:

  • Support project production reporting
  • Analyze production unit efficiencies and delays
  • Monitors and journals in field modifications for as built drawings
  • Work with production team members and subject matter experts to develop project execution plans

  • Support project teams with production reporting, weekly look ahead development, delay reporting, summary of data analysis and other processes to ensure compliance with department procedures and standards

  • Assist in the development of Site Specific Safety Work Plan (SSSWP) to ensure safety of the job
  • Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of Amtrakā€™s safety rules, policies, and procedures.
