Where will the placement take place?
The placement will take place at British Airways Engineering Wales, located in Cardiff.
What are the placement dates?
The placements will occur between January and March 2025, with specific weeks to be confirmed.
When is the application closing date?
The application closing date is 25th September 2024.
Who is eligible to apply for the placement?
To be eligible, applicants must be in Year 10/S4 or above, have a valid passport, and be in full-time education in school or college (not university).
Is there any prior experience required to apply?
No prior experience is required; we value potential and attitude over experience.
Will travel to Cardiff be required if I am successful in my application?
Yes, you will need to travel to Cardiff for the duration of your placement if you are selected.
What qualities do you look for in applicants?
We look for a professional and positive attitude, a passion for engineering and the airline industry, good communication skills, and strong organization and prioritization abilities.
Does completing this work experience lead to other opportunities?
Yes, students who complete the placement may be invited to apply for the Inspire Student Ambassador Programme, which further develops skills and may lead to full-time employment.
What steps do I need to follow to apply for a placement?
You need to register for the Speedbird-Z platform, explore areas of interest, complete the Intro task for Engineering, apply via the British Airways careers website, and provide proof of school consent if selected.
Is there a pre-learning project required before applying?
Yes, you must complete the pre-learning project on Speedbird-Z and attach the required project to your application.
