What are the main responsibilities of the Band 5 Staff Nurse on Cedar Ward?
The main responsibilities include delivering high standards of patient care, monitoring and maintaining nursing standards under the guidance of senior staff, assisting in the professional development of junior staff, and being accountable for nursing practice in accordance with Trust policies and the NMC.
What type of patients will I care for on Cedar Ward?
You will care for a range of patients both pre and post complex cardiothoracic surgery, including those undergoing open and minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, valve repairs, coronary artery bypass grafts, lobectomies, pneumonectomies, and other minimally invasive procedures.
Is there support for my professional development?
Yes, the Practice Education Team will support you during a supernumerary period, and you will have opportunities to attend a preceptorship programme, in-house study days, and surgical team days. Additionally, after orientation, you may access university-based post-graduate courses.
What qualifications do I need to apply for this position?
You need to be a registered nurse with the NMC, possess excellent clinical and communication skills, and have a commitment to providing high standards of care.
