Responsibilities

  • - Provide administrative support in all areas of the journal process, including communications with editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher, through helping organize meetings and ensuring time is managed effectively.
  • - To manage all submissions through the SageTrack online system, provided by the publisher, from initial formal review to final production, and keeping an organized database of all articles submitted, reviews received, and decisions pending or taken.
  • - To help gather and analyze data and produce annual editorial reports, working closely with the Editors in Chief and using standard software packages like Microsoft Office.
  • - To act as first point of contact for the Politics journal, responding professionally and courteously to queries promptly and in a time-effective manner.
  • - To develop the social media presence of the Politics journal, working closely with the Editors in Chief and the appointed social media intern.
  • - Facilitate and co-ordinate meetings ensuring all necessary pre-meeting arrangements are in place, for example, booking of appropriate room; preparation and distribution of agenda and associated papers; post-meeting actions; preparation of minutes, as appropriate.
  • - Organise travel and relevant insurances, visas, etc liaising as necessary with travel agents, internal colleagues and external institutions/companies. Prepare comprehensive itineraries in advance of travel.
  • - Undertake and other reasonable duties as required by the team, for example to participate, when required, in meetings outside the School with representatives of PSA, the publisher, or other academic bodies.
  • - Engage in reasonable professional development activities as appropriate.
  • - To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s strategic plan.
  • - Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by suggesting service improvements and implementing new processes to enhance quality of service.
