Requirements

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or Masters in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, aero/astro engineering, product design engineering, or related field.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software such as solidworks, Creo, NX, CATIA.
  • Proficiency in testing & evaluating mechanical designs
  • Knowledge of various rapid prototyping methods (3D printing, CNC, laser cutting)
  • Familiarity with mass production manufacturing methods such as injection molding, die casting, sheet metal, and CNC.
  • Fundamental knowledge of material properties for plastics and metals.
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorming innovative ideas and defining requirements balancing performance, function, and aesthetics.
  • Collaborate with industrial designers and user interface teams to create concepts that are both ergonomic and visually appealing.
  • Design mechanical modules and systems including but not limited to enclosures, thermal solutions, dynamic components, etc.
  • Detail 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software.
  • Perform engineering analysis of design functionality including but not limited to free body diagrams, weight analysis, and tolerance analysis, and statistical analysis.
  • Identify and resolve design issues by troubleshooting and iterating on design.
  • Validate design intent and functional requirements through data driven testing and analysis.
  • Validate design via thermal, mechanical, and environmental testing.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, optical engineers, manufacturing engineers, reliability engineers, industrial engineers, and more to integrate hardware systems.
  • Partner with suppliers to ensure design is manufacturable at scale.
