Requirements

  • Licensed Master's degree level clinician in: Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or Marriage & Family Counseling; OR Licensed Ph.D. or Licensed PsyD; OR an RN with 2+ years of experience in behavioral health (licensure must be current and unrestricted in your state of residence)
  • 3+ years of behavioral health clinical experience in an inpatient/acute setting or outpatient setting
  • Utilization review experience in an insurance company or managed care setting
  • Experience in discharge planning and/or chart review
  • Experience in inpatient/acute setting or outpatient setting
  • Knowledge of Level of Care Guidelines (i.e., Milliman, Interqual, etc.)
  • If the hired individual resides in Florida (office based or telecommuting) this position requires the AHCA Level II background check (fingerprinting) by the State of Florida for all clinicians that have direct face to face contact with members OR employees who will have access to confidential patient data and will require renewal every five years
  • All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy
  • Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment

Responsibilities

  • Support day to day operations of team as subject matter expert for department
  • Review staff member assessments and collaborate with medical peers to determine appropriate levels of care
  • Assess and interpret customer needs and requirements
  • Review cases and analyze clinical information in conjunction with medical directors to determine the appropriateness of hospitalization
  • Manage escalated concerns/cases to resolution
