Requirements

  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Sea-going and/or ship management marine engineering experience
  • Relevant tertiary electrical engineering or related degree; or equivalent
  • Business Knowledge:
  • Cruise Sector experience would be beneficial
  • Professional qualifications in relevant marine technology essential
  • Professional training in marine Regulations
  • Management of multiple projects and vendors during dockings and in operation projects
  • Relationship Building - Candidates, Customers, Vendors – Established marine network.
  • Global Collaboration – Flexibility to work with ships in different locations and between US and UK Offices. This role will require substantial international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, preparing, and executing assigned Marine Electrical Engineering projects in line with Industry Standards for DCL Fleet and Private Island Resorts.
  • Maintain Disney Cruise Line technical standards for area of responsibility.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Shipboard Leadership, DCL Private Island Resort Team and Electrical Engineering Vendors.
  • Responsibility for Project Management to include:
  • Assist the Manager of Electrical Technical Planning in the development of Project Specifications in accordance with Dept. Strategy and Priorities, including Dry Docking and operational projects.
  • Assist in obsolescence management across the company fleet.
  • Follow company procedures for the financial management of assigned projects, including Competitive Bidding, Capital & Expense Requests, Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting.
  • Responsible for the compliance of assigned projects, including design, component & type approvals, manufacturer audits, and both internal & external inspections.
  • Oversee the delivery, installation, commissioning & handover of assigned projects, ensuring compliance with regulations & standards (e.g. Classification Society, Ship National Administration/ Flag State, applicable Electrical and Building Codes, Port States including United States Coast Guard CFR for safety, environmental and security).
  • Update Manager of Electrical Technical Planning on ongoing project work.
  • Maintain and update DCL Asset Management & Maintenance Systems for machinery and engineering systems with updated details, engineering documentation, component specifications and planned maintenance.
  • Manage vendors to aid in the execution of Marine Electrical Engineering projects ensuring company and regulatory standards are maintained
  • Implementation of the general safety management responsibilities specified in the Regulated DCL Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Designate for Line Manager as required.
  • Assists and keeps the Executive Director Technical Operations and Manager Electrical Technical Planning informed of ongoing and planned matters relevant to issues and materials in the SMS.
