Responsibilities

  • The post-holder will provide a highly specialist clinical psychology service to patients referred to the MHSOP Psychology Inpatient Service, working with people with functional based mental health problems, with additional scope to develop our service for people with organic problems, such as dementia, on our two organic wards at the General Hospital.
  • The post-holder will offer advice and consultation on patient’s psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, and where appropriate deliver psychological assessments (including neuropsychological assessment) and interventions; working autonomously within professional guidelines and the Trust policies, procedures and service priorities. The post-holder will manage, and offer clinical supervision to less senior psychologists working in the MHSOP Inpatient Psychology Service.
  • The post-holder will participate fully in multidisciplinary clinical teams, ensuring effective systems are in place for the management of referrals to the service and workload of team members to ensure timely and appropriate care is provided.
  • The post-holder will work with the support of the Consultant Clinical Psychologist for MHSOP, to develop and provide innovative services to meet the psychological needs of patients referred to the service in accordance with evidence-based practice. The post-holder will be capable of conducting projects, working independently with only general briefings and working directly with senior managers.
