Responsibilities

  • The primary clinical duty of this post is to provide flexible cover for endoscopy lists cancelled by endoscopists as well as support the Hepatology clinical service through attendance at a weekly clinic. The post will therefore include an average of 8 flexible service sessions per week (3 service endoscopy lists, 1 service clinic, 2 sessions for Hot clinic/eLGH in reach, 1.5 admin sessions and 0.5 sessions for MDT work). The remaining 2 sessions will be devoted to quality improvement activity and research/development. There is no ward or on call work as part of this post.
  • The post-holder will be required to work closely with the directorate management team to assist the smooth running of the Hepatology service which may require vetting of inpatient referrals especially from eLGH sites and support the Junior Clinical Fellow as well as the administration and nursing team. As already alluded to, the post-holder will also be committed to initiating, supervising and conducting a programme of rolling audits as part of the rolling IQILS accreditation.
  • The successful candidate would be expected to have obtained or obtain a “Good Clinical Practice” (GCP) certification necessary to contribute in research before commencing the post. This is free and organised by the research department.
