What qualifications do I need to apply for the Data Protection & Security Coordinator apprenticeship?
Ideally, you should have A Level / Level 3 qualifications and above, but applications are welcome from everyone regardless of their educational background.
What will I learn during the apprenticeship?
You will learn about data protection, data requests, data breaches, and data security, covering topics such as Data Sharing Agreements, Subject Access Requests, and the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
How long does the apprenticeship last?
The apprenticeship lasts for 19 months.
Is prior experience in data protection required to apply?
No prior experience is required. The role is designed for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals who are willing to learn.
What support will I receive during the apprenticeship?
You will receive on-the-job training, monthly 1:1 support with your supervisor, and team support throughout your apprenticeship.
Can I apply if I am not living in England?
No, you must be living in England and have lived in the EU/EEA for a minimum of 3 years to meet the criteria for the apprenticeship.

What kind of tasks will I be responsible for in this role?
You will manage a caseload that includes coordinating responses to Freedom of Information requests, processing Subject Access Requests, and investigating data breaches.
Will there be any induction or orientation before starting the apprenticeship training?
Yes, applicants will undergo an extensive induction and orientation program prior to starting their apprenticeship training.
