  • Entry Requirements: GCSE Maths, English Language (or equivalent) at minimum grade 4 and an honours degree at minimum 2:2.
  • This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last five years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role.
  • You must hold the right to work full time in the UK and qualify for service under the Civil Service Nationality Rules without any additional immigration approvals. DE&S do not sponsor Visas.
  • You must have or be currently studying to achieve the following qualifications by September 2025:
  • GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent) at minimum grade 4
  • and
  • An honours degree at a minimum classification of 2:2
  • Evidence of the above qualifications will be required as part of your pre-employment checks before a formal offer can be made.

Responsibilities

  • DE&S is looking for talented, motivated, and skilled university graduates to join our Security Graduate Scheme and become security professionals of the future.
  • This is a two-year development programme focusing on business roles across different areas of DE&S with an emphasis on security.
  • The DE&S Security Profession is responsible for the effective delivery of security across DE&S. Effective security is crucial to the delivery of Defence Outputs. The aim of defence security is to support and enable operational success, and the wider work of MOD, by protecting the people, information and physical assets.
  • Your hands-on experience will be underpinned by DE&S specific training, business operations and project management principles as well as study towards achieving a Level 3 Qualification in Security Management from the Security Institute. In addition, you will also work towards achieving a Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management through the ILM.
  • On successful completion of your two-year programme, you may be offered a permanent position with DE&S, that reflects the interests and skills you’ve developed throughout the programme.
  • Your place of work will be Abbey Wood, Bristol, BS34 8JH. You'll be required to attend the office regularly, at the request of your Scheme Manager or Placement Supervisor. This attendance will be at your own expense and costs for travel or accommodation will not be reimbursed.
