Enrollment in an accredited college/university program as a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or post-doctoral student is required. Preference is given to students enrolled in a Master's program in Public Administration, Nursing, Public Policy, or Public Health. Excellent communication skills, professional behavior, and the ability to work independently in an office environment are also necessary.

The Public Policy Intern at AARP will work on recruiting new members for a national coalition, coordinating efforts to strengthen the nursing workforce, engaging in interpersonal communications strategies, and producing meeting minutes and digital products related to nursing and caregiving policies.

More specifically, the intern would help project manage a two-day technical workshop to support nearly 100 schools of nursing to retain and graduate their students and to help project manage a meeting where we will engage senior leadership from nearly 100 historically Black Colleges and universities, Hispanic- and American Indian/Alaska Native-serving colleges and institutions. This role would provide the intern many opportunities to engage leaders from academia, health care delivery, corporations, and some government officials.
