Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering or a closely related technical field from an accredited university
  • Completed at least 45 credit hours.
  • Minimum of 2.8 GPA.
  • Familiar with basic engineering principles and material properties
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office to generate presentations and reports
  • Demonstration of strong communication skills
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Requisition Preferences:
  • Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstration of creativity, conception, vision, and initiative

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with JETS II Hypervelocity Impact Technology (HVIT) Group colleagues and NASA customers to execute Micrometeoroid/Orbital Debris (MMOD) risk analysis and hypervelocity impact testing requirements
  • Perform spacecraft MMOD impact risk assessment
  • Research spacecraft geometry, material, and operating parameters to support risk analysis
  • Support hypervelocity impact testing activities
  • Support impact simulation studies
  • Support development of impact test database
  • Present results to technical team in both written and verbal formats
  • Support other activities under the HVIT project as needed
