Will I receive support during my first year of employment?
Yes, throughout your first year in post, you will participate in our Newly Qualified Midwifery Programme, which is designed to support your transition from student to confident and capable midwife.
Who will provide support during my time as a Band 5 Midwife?
You will be supported daily by experienced colleagues, including Charge Midwives, Senior Charge Midwives, and Lead Midwives, along with assistance from our Practice Development Team.
Are there opportunities for professional development?
Yes, the programme includes clinical supervision sessions and participation in Flying Start Scotland’s national development programme for newly qualified nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals.
Where is NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde located?
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is located in Greater Glasgow and the surrounding area, which offers a blend of urban living, beautiful countryside, and coastal escapes.
When can successful candidates start working?
Successful candidates can be started in a Band 4 Health Care Support Worker role as soon as pre-employment checks are completed, with the latest start date being Monday, 6 October 2025.
What kind of referees do I need to provide?
You need to provide two referees: one academic supervisor and one previous placement mentor.
What if I am not familiar with the Glasgow area?
If you’re not yet familiar with Glasgow and the surrounding area, you will find it culturally rich and welcoming, with excellent transport links for easy commuting across the region.
