Requirements

  • Registered Healthcare practitioner with valid UK Registration (NMC / HCPC)
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.
  • Advanced Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality.
  • Evidence of application of advanced practice skills in speciality and applying clinical judgement.
  • Evidence of further developed knowledge and experience in management and/or leadership.
  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
  • The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate and influence others and work using own initiative
  • Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills and effective time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
  • Professional, clinical experience within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge to practise safely, effectively and efficiently
  • Experience assessing training needs
  • Proven track record in sound and effective specialty practice
  • Proven track record in developing innovative solutions in meeting organisational requirements and motivating staff to affect change
  • Management experience of Endoscopy and Decontamination including knowledge of JAG accreditation
  • Experience of Resource Management ie financial, human, capital
  • Experience of service planning; project management and performance monitoring/reporting
  • Proven track record in developing teams/services and integrated solutions to complex and challenging problems
  • Evidence of specialist knowledge in Endoscopy
  • In depth knowledge of OPERA, NTIG, Discovery
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of NHS Scotland’s Leadership Qualities Framework or equivalent Framework
  • Management knowledge gained through experience and CPD
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the Health Care Agenda
  • Motivated to work in clinical speciality and continue professional development.
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Evidence of effective problem-solving skills
  • Good manual skills with experience in handling surgical instrumentation or equipment
  • Flexible approach to work pattern according to the needs of the service
  • Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence

Responsibilities

  • - Manage a highly specialist or complex caseload, using evidence based practice and client centred principles, to assess, plan and implement care, provide expert advice and support, while operating within a defined specialism across NHS Lanarkshire.
  • - Lead or manage the development and implementation of a programme of quality improvement, clinical audit and research activity.
  • - Lead the supervision, education and development of members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • - Provide effective leadership within scope of role.
