Responsibilities

  • The Safety, Health and Environment Advisor (SHEA) actively assesses potential risks in the workplace before they become serious problems, allowing for preventative measures to be implemented.
  • The SHEA ensures safety policies and procedures are implemented and enforced consistently across the JCG.
  • The SHEA advises on investigation processes for workplace accidents and incidents to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences.
  • The SHEA ensures the JCG adheres to all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Legislation. The SHEA supports the Units in JCG, giving the Commander assurance updates at regular intervals.
  • The SHEA actively encourages the JCG Senior Leadership Team to promote a positive safety culture within the JCG, encouraging employees to prioritise safety.
  • The SHEA regularly audits JCG units, writes reports and provides assurance to the Commander JCG on Safety and Environmental Management processes.
